Ukrainian Electrical Engineering Professor Collaborates with University of Tennessee to Strengthen Power Grid Resilience

KNOXVILLE, OCTOBER 31, 2024 – As part of the BridgeUSA Ukrainian Academic Fellows Program, the University of Tennessee hosted Dr. Vladyslav Panchenko, a professor from the Ukrainian State University of Railway Transport. During his four-week fellowship, Dr. Panchenko collaborated with the Tickle College of Engineering and the Center for Transportation Research to study U.S. electrical engineering curricula and sustainable energy infrastructure. With his home university located near the frontline, Dr. Panchenko focused on identifying strategies to restore and protect Ukraine’s power grid from ongoing attacks. He plans to integrate these international insights into online training for his students, ensuring the next generation of Ukrainian specialists is prepared for the country’s post-war reconstruction.
